<description>Excellent post, and well said. I have always known that I have had the better end of the deal, workload-wise, being at work while Aline takes care of the kid. But maybe in the past year or so, as she's grown out of the terrible two's, I have been having a very hard time accepting it as well. I miss her a lot throughout the day, and think about what they might be doing while I'm sitting in a meeting all the time.

A good buddy once said to me "work is what you do so you can have as much fun with your family as possible", and I think that is a great point. The bottom line is that jobs can come and go, but family is forever, and no one I know will ever regret spending as much time with them as possible.

Good luck!

<description>I was going to say the same thing as Chris up there. I can imagine it must be really hard to go back... but your babies are in great hands. Hang in there!</description>

<description>No words of wisdom just a big hug and tons of hope that your day goes well. Keep thinking about those smiling faces when you get home and that will help you make it through the day.

<description>I've been meaning to write a post about the birth of our first child. I missed a lot. I was in my last year at my second trip to college and interning at my first professional job. Staying at home really wasn't at option. With my second daughter, things were much better. I didn't actually take leave, but I lived 5 minutes from home and had a very flexible schedule at work, so I could just come home and hang out whenever I wanted, while working.

I really felt like I missed a lot with the first one. She was born on Saturday and I was back to work and school on Monday. This was a decision we made together. As an intern, I was paid hourly, so I could take the time off without pay. Food is nice. Since I was on the home stretch for college, the prize at the end was the degree and a guaranteed good job. That was pretty tough to turn down.

My wife was nursing for the first year, but she was also pumping. I really enjoyed my quality time when I got to feed her. I never turned one of those down.

Hopefully I get a chance to post this whole story in the near future. I'll let you know when I get it done :-)

Back to summer...

		<description>Lori,

My thoughts will be with you as you return to work.

While I was pregnant with #2, we made the decision for me to stay home with the kids. Previously, I was a guilt-ridden mess. I would think about home while I was at work, and while at home think about work. It just ate away at me, and my husband and I really wanted one of us home. It was VERY hard for me to decide to leave work, as a big piece of my self-image was tied up in my career.

To continue to earn money while home, I ran a childcare in my home for 10 years. I LOVED it, and feel very fortunate to have been able to do that. Truthfully, it required many of the same skills I had used in my 'career' job.

I'm really happy that your situation allows Jeremy to be home with the kids.

Blessings to you on Monday~

Robyn

<description>I am a mother of 5. No matter how many children you have, and no matter how many times you think you will be ok, it is ALWAYS difficult. Luckily you have a stay at home father to help, whom you can trust 110%, as apposed to leaving your babydoll with a stranger.

Excellent post. Thanks for sharing.
