You are so right, we all go about our days with barely a thought to the privilege and responsibility that accompanies driving, until something tragic happens. My husband and I were involved in a serious head-on collision when we were still dating. My face collided with the windshield and although the parties of both cars were injured, we all recovered and were very lucky. I pray for a speedy recovery for your colleague. It's amazing how stuff like this can happen so randomly. I had a colleague that died in an accident in May while at a conference. It's was shocking and extremely sad.
